What type of stone do you have available?
Our natural stone range consists of Travertine, Limestone, Marble, Slate, Jerusalem Stone and Crema Marfil.
Why use natural stone?
Unlike most wooden floors or carpeted floors, stone floors can improve with age. Stone floor tiles can last a lifetime and hence, is great value for money. Stone has the advantage of being very hard wearing and easy to clean. Stone tiles match most other materials and is very adaptable in getting the right look for your floor or walls. Each stone floor will be unique, as no stone tile is the same and each stone tile will have natural shades.
Is natural stone cold?
Natural stone is a great conductor of heat and will naturally adjust to the same temperature of the room. By adding under floor heating below the stone floor tiles the floor can even be warmer. With natural stone floors a rug will add colour, change the feel and allow more choices for your flooring.
What sort of finishes are available using stone?
Antique stone floor -
a worn look to the stone achieved using ageing/distressing methods.
Filled stone finish - stone such as Travertine has surface pits and holes. These can mostly be pre-filled at source.
Unfilled stone finish - stones that have surface pits and holes are supplied as is. These may require filling with grout.
Honed stone floor tiles - the stone is run through a machine to give a smooth surface to the face of the stone.
Polished stone tiles - a high reflective gloss is applied to the surface of the stone tile.
Tumbled stone - a form of antique stone. The stone is given rounded edges and the surface may be textured.
What colours do natural stone tiles come in?
Natural stone tiles come in a vast range of colours. Earthy tones such as creams, beiges, browns can be found in Travertine and Limestone. Bright colours such as reds, blues and white can be found in Marble tiles, and darker colours can be found in Slate floor tiles. Some stone tiles will have multi-coloured or intricate veining that is natural and very effective.

Will the colour vary?
Stone tiles vary in colour. Make sure that your stone tiles are dry and clean when fixing them so that you can see the true colour before installing them. This way you can select the layout and pattern of the colours before fixing and tiles to your floor. Having colour variation will add depth to the stone floor and will look more natural stone flooring.
How accurate are the samples of stone sent?
Our stone samples are a great way of giving you a taste of what the stone will be like. Variations in colour and surface to the stone mean that the sample cannot reflect all the possible differences that may be present in that type of stone. However, it is a good indication of colour, thickness, weight and finish of the stone. Can natural stone be used in conservatories?
Yes, in fact stone floors is the preferred choice for areas next to the garden. A stone floor will blend and match the outside patio and give a more natural flow from house to garden.
Can natural stone be used in wet rooms?
Yes, stone floors are very common in wet rooms.
Why is the cost of stone so varied?
Some types of stone are rarer than other, or require different cutting and transportation/packing techniques. All of our stone flooring is natural and sourced direct from the quarry. We can control the high quality of the stone and ensure your stone floor will look natural and last many years.
