FAQ - Maintaining and Protecting
Back to FAQ main >

Do I need to seal the stone?
Yes, see Fixing and Sealing FAQ

How often should I reseal the stone?
See Fixing and Sealing FAQ

What do I do if red wine is split on the stone?
A properly sealed stone floor will initially repel the wine. Wipe off the wine and wash with warm water. If wine is left on the floor it will eventually soak into the stone. This may disappear in time.

Will stone floors scratch?
Stone is very hard wearing and unlikely to scratch. If it does scratch, these will eventually disappear into the patina of the floor.

If I stain my floor should I immediately reseal it?
No, do not reseal. The stain may vanish in time. If it is a bad stain, a Stone Restoration expert will need to be called.

Can I use Bleach, Rubbing Alcohol, White Vinegar, Peroxide etc. to clean the natural stone or grout?
No, all of the above substances will damage natural stone. Any cleaner that contains acid will cause damage.

Can acids damage the sealant?
Yes, acids such as wine, orange juice, vinegar, urine etc. will damage both the sealant and the stone. Clean them immediately.
