|Grade||SELECT GRADE: Select grade wood is often referred to as ABC grade. This grade typically consists of a mix of near Prime boards (no knots or checks) with other boards that contain knots and checks of a limited size similar to Classic grade but less than Natural grade. There will be a degree of colour variation from heartwood and sapwood as well as some filled elements which will compliment the natural character of the oak.|
|Installation Points||Engineered Herringbone Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached (glue down method) to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive.|
|Blending||Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.|
|Glue-Down||We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.|
