Our Hunston Handworked 30 is a stunning oak board, with knots and brushed grain highlighting the natural characteristics of the oak floor, this engineered oak flooring is at home in both classically styled interiors and more modern schemes.
All oaks in our Hunston Handworked collection are hand-antiqued boards using a rustic selection of oak known for its attractive knots and splits. Each hand aging method accentuates these natural characteristics within this oak engineered flooring and the aged appearance is further enhanced by the hand bevelled, distressed edges. Hunston Handworked 30 has been lightly smoked, waxed oiled and lovingly handshaved & hand chiselled to create a rich pale-latte colour oak floor and a gorgeous textured finish with strong indentations. This superb oak flooring goes through varied handworking processes to produce an extremely rugged yet beautiful floor. Each plank is very lightly fumed adding a depth of hue to this natural coloured oak. Next a very light whitewash is applied that settles only in the deepest grain, subtly highlighting not drowning this wonderful oak. Those looking for light wood floors that will stay in vogue as long as the solid timber look lasts (which is basically forever) cannot go far wrong here. This antiqued oak flooring would look perfect in a classic country kitchen and just as fabulous in a minimalist modern living space.
Our Hunston Handworked range offers 6 different colour options, all naturally produced through a combination of different smoking times and finishing oil. #30 is light smoked and finished with a white wash & white wax oil which gently accents the natural grain flow patterns in this superb oak floor.
Design Tip: For those who desire a contrasting scheme consider darker paint shades like Vulcan and Scree to infuse moodiness and a stark, dramatic contrast to the flooring. Vulcan & Scree are colours by Little Greene.
Hunston Handworked #30 oak floor is available in 1.5cm (15mm) thick engineered boards, 220cm in length and 22cm wide (2200mm x 220mm). This engineered wood flooring has individually distressed & antiqued edges and fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab. this is a 15mm thick engineered oak flooring with a 11mm ply back and 4mm solid oak surface.

| Grade | NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
