Imbued with a modernity of colour and tone, Drummond Grey engineered oak floor is the upstart member of our stunning new Drummond aged oak range. Taking inspiration from wooden floors that have been marked & distressed from years of use, Drummond Grey contains a lovely, subtle cross-sawn look, lifting the oak’s aesthetic beyond that of typical aged oak. Each oak board has been hand-worked including a gently antiqued edge and a light surface brushing which emphasizes and elevates the oaks natural characteristics. With wide oak boards being particularly desired now, Drummond Grey, at 24cm wide, provides a wonderful extra-wide oak flooring in a highly desirable contemporary shade. This commanding width coupled with the elegant hand-finishing produces an engineered oak floor of statement and grandeur.
Drummond Grey is a fabulous lightly smoked oak, washed with grey creating a pale, white-washed aesthetic. This raw, almost ‘unfinished’ colour is very much in demand in real wood flooring & this gorgeous finish is achieved by the clever use of UV finishing oils, giving you the unfinished colour but with the protection of an oiled finish.
Drummond Grey oak floor is available in 1.5cm thick engineered boards, 2.2m in length and 24cm wide (2200mm x 240mm x 15mm) – a stunning, hand-worked, super-wide, aged oak floor. This engineered wood flooring has individually distressed, sawn & antiqued face and edges and fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab. this is a 15mm thick engineered oak flooring with a 11mm ply back and 4mm solid oak surface.

Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
