Cabochon & Chequers Stone Floors

Cabochon limestone floors are enjoying a huge renaissance, no doubt due to their timeless style and elegance. Our range consists of 3 hand-finished limestones & a classic marble, all chosen for their hard-wearing nature and typically English vernacular (in the case of the limestone). Each corner of the main stone tile is cut to accommodate a hand-finished & aged black limestone or marble diamond – the cabochon. These gorgeous floors, often referred to as octagon limestone floors, feature a tumbled and aged edge & face (the surface of the stone), replicating the timeworn look of an old antique tiled floor. These cut-corner floors will appeal to those whose projects include listed buildings, period properties and of course Georgian style homes where this style of stone flooring was first used to show off the wealth & status of the owner! 

Chequerboard floors have certainly come back into the limelight with this classic design style entering many spaces from kitchens & living spaces to garden rooms. Chequerboard is a timeless pattern that has graced the floors of both residential and commercial spaces for decades, proving that it’s not just a passing trend but a true classic design element.
