If you are searching for a reclaimed look oak board that gives you the timeless beauty of natural oak colour then our Barnwood Kiln must be considered. This fabulous oak flooring is just packed with character, interest and charm. As with all our Barnwood boards, Kiln undergoes a myriad of handworking processes to produce an oak floor that appears antiqued and aged through many years of natural wear. Kiln is truly enchanting and all this in an engineered oak meaning you can have that timeworn aesthetic with the comforts of modern living i.e. underfloor heating.

At 22cm wide, this sumptuous engineered oak flooring will suit any space, from cosy sanctuary rooms through to huge open plan living, Barnwood Kiln creates a truly elegant finish. This oak flooring is gorgeously rustic with all the knots and characteristic blemishes of natural oak brought to the fore. These traits are looked for in each board which undergo artisanal hand-aging using ingenious techniques to emphasize these features. Each plank also undergoes hand antiquing on the edges resulting in depressions, indentations and chiselled edges adding even more reclaimed flavour to the stunning oak floor. All this handwork, on the surface of the boards and on the edges, meld together to produce an authentic aged oak look that is simply astounding. To even further elevate the oak, a hardwaxed oil has been applied that just creates the warmest of finishes, beautifully highlighting all the work that has been done to this fabulous oak floor.

Our Barnwood collection of distressed and aged oak flooring gives the gorgeous look and feel of reclaimed oak but in a stable, engineered board making it suitable for modern installations and with underfloor heating.

Barnwood Kiln oak floor is available in 2.0cm (20mm) thick engineered boards, 220cm in length and are 22cm wide (2200mm x 220mm). This engineered wood flooring has individually distressed & antiqued edges and fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab.

Structural Board 20mm Format This is a 20mm thick board so can be laid directly on joists using an appropriate fixing mechanism.
Grade RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor.
Glue-Down We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.
Floating Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product.
Blending Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.
