When people hear ‘brown’ it almost invariably conjures up a feeling of ‘ugh’… However, this certainly isn’t the feeling one gets from our grey-brown coloured Estate LD02 engineered oak flooring; certainly, more of a ‘ooo’. Some have argued it is more of a rich, dark chocolate colour but whatever adjectives you want to use there is no disputing that its beautiful smoky, darker hues elevate the feeling of a naturally aged oak floor.

If style and sophistication are your watchwords, then this sumptuous, engineered oak flooring will not fail to pique your interest. A beautiful dark wood plank that suggests a timber floor trodden & aged by use; the elegant, toasted chocolate tones make for easy accessorising. Add colour bursts of bright blues and greens for vitality and energy or coordinate with soothing white and cream neutrals. Alternatively, rich red-brown earth shades or foliage greens will work with wonderfully with our Estate LD02 oak flooring to create a more muted and serene atmosphere.

Eminently versatile, this hand-aged oak is suitable for almost all spaces and properties of all periods. It is the perfect blend of timeless good taste, practicality and atmospheric warmth. This stunning oak creates environments of comfort and charm and, when combined with the genuine hand-antiqued surface finish and hand distressed edges, you have a timeless oak floor authentically replicating that old wood floor feel completely.

Structural Board 20mm Format The 20mm thick board format can be laid directly on joists using an appropriate fixing mechanism.
Grade NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used.
Installation Points HERRINGBONE: Engineered Herringbone Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached (Glue-down method) to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive.
Glue-Down We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply.
Floating Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product.
Blending Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended.
Cleaning The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection.
