Our beautiful Surrey Tumbled Parquet engineered oak floor epitomises this approach – a stunning, super pale oak unadulterated by dyes or coloured oils – just a pure, natural light-toned oak board. This charming rustic grade oak has been antiqued & brushed and then oiled so that the inherent grain, knots and natural oak colour are at their best.
Surrey tumbled oak parquet flooring is a rustic selection which means there will be numerous knots and other natural oak characteristics along with a wider tonal colour variation. Sold in packs of 16 planks which have been subtly aged and tumbled on all four sides, this oak engineered flooring is available in a dynamic parquet size.
Design Tip: Designers always promote cool neutral colours for use with pale hardwood floors. Think white, neutral off-whites, and soft greys whilst avoiding warm neutrals that have yellow or earthy undertones.

| Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
| Installation Points | Engineered Parquet Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
