Smoked engineered oak flooring for luxury Cotswold house

We were delighted when, last year, Cirencester-based Rixon Architects included our engineered oak flooring in their design of a bespoke luxury house in the Cotswolds.

This splendid house was created from two detached barns, previously used as holiday homes. When award-winning Rixon Architects were commissioned to transform this one-story family home, it was important to have a strong connection between the house and gardens. So, every room in this outstanding house opens onto one of three beautiful courtyards. This bespoke feature, alongside the truly spectacular design and construction, led to a 2015 International Property Award.

Stunning craftsmanship, design and natural materials

Throughout this exquisite home, our aged oak flooring nestles among a delightful selection of beautiful natural materials, many of which are local, including exposed Cotswold stone. And the craftsmanship by Rixon Building and Roofing is as exceptional as the unique detailing and design.

Customised antique smoked engineered oak flooring

Within the spacious lounge area and substantial master bedroom of this luxury home, 131 metres of our Heavy Brushed Smoked Engineered European Oak flooring were used, customised to three-metre long planks and varying widths of 22cm, 26cm and 28cm. This beautiful dark oak flooring impeccably complements the fabulous detailing and feature pieces in these magnificent rooms, with the naturally textured surface of this wide oak flooring charmingly highlighting the subtle colour variations and characteristics of oak.

In the vast country-themed lounge and TV room, our antique-style dark oak flooring is the perfect accompaniment to the wonderful light, natural tones of the stylish décor and contemporary furniture. While the remarkable expanse of the master bedroom, with its en-suite bathroom, dressing rooms and separate lounge, is wonderfully accompanied by the warm, rich tones and antique appearance of our engineered aged oak flooring. The impressive floor-to-ceiling windows and doors offer exceptional views and access to the delightful courtyard garden, and flood light into this marvelous room, further accentuating the stunning detailing and design, and the wonderful textures, grains and colours of the smoked oak flooring.
