Our Hurst Tumbled Parquet Oak flooring elevates hardwood flooring into something rather special. Taking rustic grade oak, assessing each separate plank and employing a few, select artisan applied techniques, we create a beautiful parquet board, stacked full of beauty, charm and allure. The sublime colour of Hurst lightly brushed oak is a wonderful pale light smoked colour, a fabulous example of an almost unfinished oak colour, but finished with a durable & robust hardwax oil.
This sympathetically antiqued and aged engineered oak is a gorgeous light-toned oak floor with all the character markings you'd expect from rustic grade oak including knots & lovely grain markings. The finishing processes employed accentuate all these natural elements of the oak, bringing them into the fore, producing a delightful, subtly aged look floor, that is as much at home in a contemporary apartment as it is in a period refurb.
This super versatile parquet oak is gently brushed producing a lovely finish to each plank. The edges of each plank are gently tumbled & distressed but not overly so, making this a top choice for projects that could be described as contemporary but that benefit from a touch of the timeless. This engineered wood flooring has individually worked, tumbled & brushed edges and face which fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab. this is a 20mm thick engineered oak flooring with a 11mm ply back and 4mm solid oak surface.
Design Tip: Designers always promote cool neutral colours for use with pale hardwood floors. Think white, neutral off-whites, and soft greys whilst avoiding warm neutrals that have yellow or earthy undertones.

| Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
| Installation Points | Engineered Parquet Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
