Thomas Tumbled Herringbone is a handsome teak coloured engineered oak floor whose dark, golden oak tones are elevated by a unique tumbling process and various hand-finishing techniques. Each individual piece is also smoked or fumed darkening the natural oak, making it a richer colour with tones ranging from honey through deep tobacco & chestnut. Warmth and beauty exude from our Thomas Tumbled Herringbone creating the feeling of comfort even with the smallest or coldest of rooms. Northern aspect? This gorgeous herringbone oak floor brings together the historic and charming beauty of real timber with the modern design statement of a large format parquet whose design trend just continues to grow and grow. This engineered oak herringbone wood flooring has individually distressed & tumbled edges and fits together via tongue & groove. | Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
| Installation Points | Engineered Herringbone Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
