Blessed with rolling hills and picturesque villages, the Cotswolds is emblematic of England’s green & pleasant lands. It is also home to some beautiful limestone, stones that play a big part in the areas appeal. The local stone comes with a price tag though & can be exorbitantly priced – especially for calibrated flagstones of large sizes. This and other rationale motivated us to find a selection of better, more affordable stones, that match the local stone in colour, beauty and appearance whilst outperforming them in terms of durability, toughness and cost. Enter Avignon limestone, our first Cotswold look flagstone and still our best-selling one. Avignon Heavy tumbled limestone has been a core of our indoor flagstone flooring range for nearly 20 years and now we can offer a stunning 3cm thick outdoor version, finished to perfectly complement its internal counterpart. 

If your outdoor scheme or landscaping project demands a gorgeous pale cream coloured stone with elements of fawn, buff & morel, then Avignon Heavy tumbled external limestone just must be on your short-list. Compared to its sister stone Castile, Avignon has larger mineral, quartz and fossil details which combine with the pale stone colour to create a creamier, more Bath Stone coloured flag in contrast to the hotter tones often seen in the Castile. 

Each flag in our Avignon Heavy outdoor limestone is heavily tumbled or aged, creating an authentic time-worn edge and textured surface, very traditional in character. The mixed lengths in this stone run from 70cm through to 100cm in 10cm increments, creating a classic pattern, the scale of which won’t be lost in outdoor schemes and landscaping projects.

Also available are our Avignon outdoor finish treads (steps) – also popular as coping stones. 100cm long x 35cm deep x 5cm thick with the front edge finished with a bullnose profile. Priced per piece at £45each +VAT and delivery. PLEASE NOTE: STEP TREADS are sold PER STEP, so the price above (£45.00+VAT) is for one 100cm x 35cm tread and NOT per sqm. Just enter the total number of steps you require into the white box labelled SQM (next to the 'Prices include VAT' box) to add correctly to your shopping cart.

Postal samples ARE NOT available for our 5cm thick step treads, the colour and finish is identical to the outdoor flagstone (within the vagaries of a natural product).
