Reclaimed Terracotta Square

These beautifully rustic terracotta squares are made from salvaged terracotta roof tiles collected from derelict houses, factories, and agricultural buildings across Europe. They clearly show all the characteristics of a genuine reclaimed material thanks to their decades of use – these include a satisfyingly natural tonal variation & signs of wear & tear that has been formed naturally, not artificially. This lovely 14cm x 14cm (or 5 ½ inch square) tile is highly adaptable and is often used in schemes where a more rustic feel is needed.

Reclaimed terracotta, by its very nature, means that each & every tile is varied with uniquely rustic textures & natural patinas. The tonal variations range from burnt orange, blushed pinks and deep reds and every tile shows signs of natural aging to differing degrees – these factors make this lovely square tile an ideal choice for rustic, vintage, cottage and farmhouse-styled interiors. Reclaimed terracotta offers an environmentally conscious choice, one that is perfect for eco-friendly interior design.

Features:

-    Each & every tile of reclaimed terracotta has a unique patina & appearance formed by decades of use and weathering. Pitts in the surface and irregular or worn edges developed over years of wear are abundantly evident.
-    As these tiles are made from salvaged terracotta roof tiles, they are very well-aged and, when professionally installed, are extremely durable.
-    The tiles will have varying thicknesses, may have subtle bowing and will definitely have colour & finish variations with every batch, all of which enhances their natural charm.

*Installation note: The most important factor in achieving a good finish is to use a tiler with proven experience of laying and sealing reclaimed terracotta tiles. An experienced terracotta installer will very likely have a suite of sealers that they are comfortable in using, excellent products are available from FILA, LTP and others. As your fitter is guaranteeing your installation, we’d recommend following their suggested products even if they differ from those outlined in our sealing guide.
